The term industry is sometimes used to describe a precise business activity (e.g. automotive dealers) or a more generic business activity (e.g. manufacturing). If a company participates in multiple business activities, it is usually considered to be in the industry in which most of its revenues are derived.

Establishments classified based on their preferred software
supplier or software used.
Establishments that operate in one of two business situations. (1) Establishments that is only open for operations during certain seasons of the year. Examples include vacation cottages, lawn care services, or snow removal services. These businesses either close down completely for part of the year or drastically scale back operations, managing only basic services such as accounts payable, during the off-season. (2) Establishments for which certain seasons of the year are far more profitable than others. A "season" in this sense may refer to the actual calendar season or to a specific business time period based on an event or holiday. One example of this type is a retail business that earns a large percentage of its annual profits during the Christmas "shopping season."
